About Counsellor and Psychotherapist- MBACP Accredited and Registered, AIP, NHS and Private Practice

How I Work…

I provide a safe and confidential environment for you to explore the issues you may be struggling with. These issues may be affecting the way you feel about yourself and your loved ones around you. I offer a non-judgemental, supportive, environment which facilitates the development of self, supports the exploration of possible solutions to problems and helps challenge negative patterns of thinking and behaviour.

Everyone at some point in their life will experience distress either through loss of a loved one, low self esteem, career change or some deeply embedded memories of past, triggered by current life event. I aim to help you to develop and adopt coping strategies for constructive change and move forward.

I practice as an Integrative therapist which combines Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also work with couples.

Humanistic Therapy (Person Centred and Existential)

Humanistic Therapies focus on self-development, growth and responsibilities. They seek to help individuals recognise their strengths, creativity and choice in the ’here and now’. Within the Person Centred framework, ’every individual has within themselves resources to grow and develop if the right environments are provided’. The Person Centred Therapy is non-directive and non-judgemental which provides you with that environment to be the person you are, whereas the Existential Therapy seeks to emphasise on exploration of a particular situation to clarify your values and priorities.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
We examine the role of your thoughts (cognitions) on your negative emotions and behaviour. In becoming more aware of your thinking patterns, we can begin to elicit which are more and less positive and begin to replace the less positive ones with thoughts that are empowering and move you forwards towards positive change.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Rather than focusing on your problems and their routes, we look at the ways and techniques to your problem. By exploring what is going on ’here and now’ concerning your experiences, you can begin to become aware of what factors in life are contributing to the problem and the solution to it

Couples

If you have a relationship problem or are experiencing difficulties in your marriage and when both of you agree to see a counsellor, sometimes it is best to tackle it before it is too late. Counselling will give you a neutral and safe space where feelings may be openly expressed and heard. I use number of techniques to support you and offer practical means to work towards for overcoming obstacles .
