Alison Thorpe – Dwelling Space Counselling

Warm, approachable person-centred counsellor, currently working online. It might feel risky to contact a counsellor for the first time (or each time). You are very welcome just as you are, and counselling is at your pace. You may be seeking counselling for depression, anxiety, self-esteem, work or relationship issues, or something from your past that you want to talk about and get help with. Or maybe it is harder to put into words. I also work with art and imagery and ‘focusing’ to help you explore difficult-to-talk-about experiences. It can be very hard to cope with loss, change, stuckness, despair, and anxiety alone.

Contact me for an initial conversation via phone, text or email, and then you can either start with an initial free chat (15-20 mins) over Zoom, or book a session. There’s no obligation to book more. If you do then want to continue seeing me as your counsellor, I will hold a regular (usually weekly) time for you and our sessions together.

As a person-centred counsellor, my aim is for you to feel fully heard, accepted and understood. I will work with you so you have company as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Change and feeling better happens as we take time, in the company of a compassionate and caring other, to really hear ourselves, and begin to find ways forward, or out of difficult places.

Previous clients have said they were able to talk about shameful or embarrassing or traumatic experiences to me, and find relief. One of my primary concerns is to provide a safe space for you where you can risk sharing what’s hurting, distressing or blocking you.

the relief that comes from sharing a burden so it’s no longer overwhelming or weighing down on you.
