Hi welcome to my profile. My name is valerie and I am a fully trained qualified psychodynamic counsellor I have over nine years experience working with individuals in a confidential, warm and safe environment.
I have worked with men,women and children with issues relating to physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, bereavement/ loss, relationship issues, separation,betrayal, trust issues, illness, depression, drink/ drug related issues, anger, low self esteem and self harm, just to name a few.. I am a member of the BACP and work according to their Codes of ethics. I have an enhanced CRB.
I Qualified in 2004, and have a diploma level 4 in Therapeutic counselling. My approach is Psychodynamic, which means I work with the unconscious process.
What is Psychodynamic Counselling?
The goal of psychodynamic therapy are to increase a clients\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' self awareness and to understand the influence of past events on present behaviour. The psychodynamic therapy assists the client in gaining insight, in order to recognise their character traits, their actions, responses and behaviours to present situations.
This approach enables the client to explore unresolved conflicts that arise from past relationships, which are having an effect on current relationships.

My approach to counselling will support you to get beyond negertive patterns, to see things differently and reconnect you to aspects of yourself.
The aim of counselling is a safe place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and anxieties. This will enable you to gain confidence to make your own positive choices in life.

I am experienced in working with school children 5-11 year olds, offering play therapy, using different types of art media.
I have experience working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, clients who have thoughts towards self harm and clients with addiction issues.
I have experience in working with Trainee counsellors in supporting their development through personal counselling.

I offer a confidential, non- judgmental attitude and respect any issues you bring to the counselling session.
I offer both long term counselling, if you wish to explore deeper aspects of yourself, or short term counselling, if you wish to focus on a particular issues.
Everyone\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s counselling needs are different. Some people benefit from just a few sessions while others continue for longer.

Working with difference and
Fees are Â£45 per hour, payable at the end of each session.
Student counsellors Â£35 per hour, payable at the end of each session.
