About Nick Bresler Counselling

Hi my name is Nick and as a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist I am experienced with helping individuals with addiction, mental illness, abuse, including domestic violence, as well as, individuals who have struggled with feelings of low self esteem, sadness, loneliness, bereavement, relationship breakups and problems with intimacy.

I offer affordable therapy to individuals on both a short term or long term basis. Each session lasts 50 minutes and my normal fee is £45 though I offer concessions to individuals on low income. My practice is open out of office hours so that it is accessible to people who work full time.

My training was at a university where at first I completed a BSc in Psychology and later an MSc in integrative counselling and Psychotherapy. Therefore, my work is grounded in the science of Psychology but I can utilize a range of therapeutic models that included Person Centered, Psychodynamic and Existential.

The approach I use involves an empathetic, non judgmental, in-depth exploration of your experiences that are causing you distress, with the aim of providing you with greater insight and confidence to affect positive changes in your life that can lead to greater sense of fulfillment in your relationships. Central to our work together would be the therapeutic relationship, which becomes the vehicle for change. In other words, I will help you to understand how problematic ways of relating to others and to your world have kept you from finding emotional fulfillment. The work focuses on the here and now with an understanding of how past negative experiences might still be causing you distress in your current relationships, as well as, how positive experiences can be harnessed to produce sustainable personal growth and greater fulfillment and intimacy in your relationships.
