About Psychotherapist Soho – Spencer Rowell

Specific issues bring people to therapy, however often it may be just that we are stuck, or have difficulties that we have decided that we do not want to struggle with alone. I work to enable clients to find an understanding and new ways to manage their emotional life and relationships, with issues around self-esteem, identity and belonging. In therapy, these symptoms of everyday life difficulties are looked at in depth and we can enquire what might be causing these problems.

I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist/counsellor – UK Council for Psychotherapy (CPJA) registered – available for consultation in Soho. I can offer a safe and confidential space, with time to explore and address any difficulties and challenges that you feel are obstructing you from living a well-lived life.

I am experienced in working with people experiencing differing issues including poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, eating and body image issues, identity and relational problems (at home and at work). I have gained in-depth experience of these specific areas and also have a long-standing experience of many issues around addictions. I am very aware of the pain and confusion that addiction can cause the addict but also those of the family members and close friends affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use behaviour.

I have my own personal experience of the value of talking to a trained, impartial and above all empathic and confidential ‘other’. I believe that to understand these issues and difficulties, change occurs by working within a therapeutic relationship; to build upon the resources that you may already have, or facilitate the growth of new skills and capacities yet to be found; that in this supportive, honest and thoughtful relationship, creative growth is possible.
