About Donna LeMaitre Therapy

My name is Donna and I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope it gives you a flavour of my practice and how I work but please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

I trained in Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic skills and techniques and Motivational Interviewing.

I want to ensure you feel confident enough to get in touch with me and share your experience and explore your feelings in an emphatic and non-judgemental space is one that I hope to provide.

Counselling can help with those difficult times in life when you need to resolve a problem which is stopping you from achieving your personal best. I believe that there is no problem that cannot be resolved to your satisfaction and there are no limits to what can be achieved within counselling.

Being a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) means that as well as adhering to their code of ethics, I have a high level of training, supervised experience and ongoing training. This combined with my broad life and work experience and a diverse client base puts me in a good position to understand your situation and provide a compassionate therapeutic safe space for you to explore your feelings.

To tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your needs, I would combine a Humanistic and Psychodynamic approach where you are able to reflect and explore life events and then integrate Cognitive Behavioural therapeutic skills and theory which is a direct approach to focus on how your thoughts and beliefs affect your feelings and behaviour.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic skills and theory teaches you coping skills for dealing with different issues such as building confidence and esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationships and life direction.

I am here to listen, encouraging you to develop insight and understanding of your current difficulties while supporting you in resolving these difficulties to gaining control over your life.

As well as private practice I work providing individual therapy as a Volunteer Counsellor with the mental health charity Mind seeing a diverse range of clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma, PTSD, low self- esteem and life issues such as relationships. I’m also working as a Bereavement Support Volunteer at St Christopher’s hospice, where I have gained considerable experience.

Having experienced being a counselling client myself I know how rewarding and sometimes challenging counselling can be. Coming out the other side with a new sense of identity and focus can be incredibly empowering.

I believe my skills and experience will be able to help you to explore and understand the concerns which you are experiencing at this present time. Sessions  would be tailored to your needs, sessions can be short, long term but it will be at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

I hope we’re able to work together to help make the positive changes in your life.
