About Relationship counsellor and psychosexual therapist

If you and your partner are not in tune with each other and you are at a loss as to how to improve matters, talking at home is not always possible or productive.

Sometimes it is just too painful. It is rarely enough to bring about real change.

Relationship counselling offers a way that you can work through your difficulties together, on an equal footing, in a calm way with a trained professional. The aim is to understand more, to find strategies and solutions that really help.

If you want to stay together, counselling is a means to building a happier, stronger relationship. If you decide to part, counselling enables you to do so without bitterness and emotional scars. If you are single, therapy can help you confront your fears and worries about relationships.

Therapy isn’t an easy pill to swallow. It can be time-consuming and challenging. Uncomfortable emotions, memories and thoughts may well be stirred up unexpectedly during the process. There may be setbacks along the way. It’s not easy to break old, entrenched patterns.

Yet therapy really can provide long-lasting benefits. It supplies you with the tools for transforming your life. It gives you the confidence and self-knowledge to relate better to other people. It shows you how to build the life you want for yourself, and cope with the stones and arrows that may come your way.

My clients come from all walks of life and for all sorts of reasons. I provide a warm, relaxed, non-judgemental environment in which to explore the issues that have bought you to therapy and arrive at solutions.

Some of the issues I have worked with include…

communication problems
commitment issues
anger
fertility and IVF
sexual difficulties
loss of desire
imbalance of power
cultural differences
loss
parenting and step parenting
infidelity
illness
divorce
family pressures
work stress
financial worries
same-sex relationships
resentment
violence

I trained at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships in London. I hold a postgraduate diploma in psychodynamic marital and relationship therapy and an MSc in psychosexual therapy. In addition to seeing couples and individuals in her private practice I also teach at the Tavistock.

I undertake regular supervision and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists and the British Society of Couple Psychotherapists and Counsellors. I work within their codes of practice.
