About Richard Parrott, MBACP Registered Counsellor & Psycotherapist.

‘Integrative’ means that I have been trained in a number of different theoretical approaches and draw upon these, together with my experience and creativity, to tailor an integrated approach that fits with your individual needs.
I offer an authentic, confidential, non-judgemental and respectful space where you can feel safe to share and explore what is concerning you.

I have experience in working with clients presenting with a number of issues including: bereavement/loss; relationship/attachment issues; anxiety; stress; depression; anger; dissociation; childhood sexual abuse; adjustments to a change in life circumstances; and self esteem issues.

I am happy to work in both a time-limited, focused way or on a longer term, open-ended basis and will, again, work with you to find an approach that suits you.

NB: The first forays into the world of counselling and psychotherapy can be daunting and confusing. There’s a vast array of qualifications, specialisms and approaches that therapists adopt and depending on where you look and where we’ve trained you’ll read about psychotherapists, counsellors, psychoanalysts, behavioural therapists, psychologists, clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists, life coaches, hypnotherapists….I know I’ve left a lot out… It really is endless!
Therefore, if you are interested in starting counselling, or are just making your first enquiries, please get in touch and I’ll do my utmost to explain how I understand the process and try to help you find the right support.

Training, qualifications & experience:

I have a PG Diploma in Integrative Counselling that I attained after four years of study at the Minster Centre in London.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am an honorary psychotherapist at Newham Talking Therapies NHS Trust, a Wellbeing Advisor at a higher education institute in London and prior to these posts I spent three years as a senior counsellor and assessor for Carers Lewisham.

I am also a senior counsellor and partner at Kings X Counselling.
