About Gestalt psychotherapist

Psychotherapist for individuals and for groups. I work with adults and young people. I work with those experiencing anxiety, anger, depression, phobias, relational issues. I specialise in trauma including those who have experienced childhood emotional, physical or sexual abuse.

I am a BACP registered psychotherapist with a private practice in Pimlico on Tuesday and in Shoreditch on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings. I also work as a group facilitator for women experiencing domestic violence. I have trained for five years at The Gestalt Centre, London, obtaining an MA in Gestalt psychotherapy and a diploma in advanced group facilitation. I have also trained in creative group work and Gestalt child therapy. I am a board member and editor for the Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy where I maintain a profile with the international Gestalt community. My professional background is wide and varied, most recently working with refugees, both adults and young people, in the Not-for-profit sector as a counsellor and group facilitator. This diverse experience means I am at ease working with issues of culture and identity. I also have a lifelong interest in the relationship between the body and the mind, practising yoga, dance and meditation. This has led to my specialist interest in working with trauma including PTSD and childhood abuse. Having always had a passion for realizing one’s full potential, I use my natural curiosity, empathy and warmth together with my skills to facilitate greater awareness of your behavioural, emotional and cognitive patterns.

You may come to see me because of relational issues, challenging emotions such as anxiety and depression, anger, low self-esteem, phobias, feeling stuck in a certain way of living, or simply a sense that you could be getting more out of life than you currently are.

Together we explore what brings you to therapy. I trust that as a result of our sessions you will come to a point where you are able to make more empowered choices. As part of my holistic therapeutic approach I invite you to notice the whole of your experience from body, mind, emotions as well as how you experience yourself in the room with me. I view all of this as information on how past experiences impact your present. I work on the Gestalt premise that all of our actions, even those viewed as negative, have a creative function. Therefore the aim is not to get rid of them but rather to own them more fully. By doing so we work with, not against your creative energy and open up the possibility to do things differently and to lead a fuller and richer life. I do this in a gentle, compassionate way with respect for your own pace whilst at the same time allowing opportunities to try different ways of expressing yourself, in the safety of the therapy session.
