About Denise Gregory, Integrative and Relational Counsellor

We can all experience difficulties at times and feel overwhelmed, anxious, confused, scared or alone. It is not always easy or practical to confide in friends or family. In such situations, counselling can often help.

I am a qualified Integrative and Relational Counsellor and Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist, working in Yate, South Gloucestershire. I have professional indemnity insurance and I am a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).

I embrace diversity and differences and I have been privileged to work with people from different walks of life, ethnicities, religions, cultures and sexualities. Difference does not have to mean isolation, misunderstanding or rejection. We can find a common language to work together by accepting and being curious about one another.

I have experience working with various issues, from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, to trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, pregnancy and infertility issues, gender and sexual diversity, amongst others. Whatever you are experiencing, we will explore it together, patiently and at your own pace. My approach is non-directive, meaning that you decide what and how much you tell me. I will use different models and techniques to adapt my approach to your unique needs. The most important aspect of our work together will be our relationship, based on trust, empathy and acceptance.

I have worked with various supporting agencies, such as Victim Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Hope’s Place and Network Counselling as well as University Hospital Bristol Trust where I worked as an Occupational Health Counsellor and supported NHS staff with general and professional issues. Building on my Degree in Psychology, I am always fascinated to learn more about the workings of the brain and the mind. I am particularly interested in neuroscience, an ever changing area of research in the workings of the brain, thoughts, emotions, intelligence as well as their links with the body and its physical functions. Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy has therefore been a natural progression for me to develop further my understanding and to learn new ways to help clients to understand themselves and move towards a positive future. Please consult my website for more information.

I offer face-to-face, short-term, long-term and open-ended counselling. The 30 minute initial consultation is free to give us the opportunity to meet, get to know each other and decide if we can work together while giving you a chance to ask me questions. Concessions are available for clients on low-income and counselling students. Session times can be flexible, including in the evenings. If you would like to contact me for further information, to book a confidential initial free consultation or for an informal chat, I would be happy to hear from you.
