Hello, and welcome to Handley Counselling.

I am a fully qualified counseller in Person Centred Counselling, CBT, hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis.

My consulting rooms are based in Benfleet and provide a comfortable, confidential environment for you to explore whatever you choose to bring. They are on the ground floor and there is ample free off street parking.

I also work from the Chelsea Bridge Clinic in London on Thursdays, which offers a relaxed, caring atmosphere and many complimentary therapies.

I offer supervision for both counselling and hypnotherapy, with concessions for students. I am currently completing a further level 7 clinical supervision certificate to enhance my supervision.

I have studied therapy for nine seven years, and have worked in areas as diverse as bereavement, alcohol abuse and counselling children in schools. I have seen a wide variety of clients and have been able to help them through many issues.

I work for Mind and the NHS as a therapist, as well as teaching counselling and hypnotherapy for two colleges.

Counselling explores a number of issues that effect our lives. From day to day living to life changing events, counselling can help you find your path out of the woods. It is a powerful, therapeutic tool and can help you find the life you want. It can help you find direction, to process past life experiences, and cope with what experiences are on their way.

Counselling can help you to gain insight into yourself, to help you express yourself so you are heard by those around you. Our minds and bodies are inter-linked, by looking internally you will find that you can gain a sense of well being, can improve your physical health or help you cope with long-term health conditions. It can also improve your overall sense of well-being. For you, this might mean feeling happier or more content, more relaxed or at ease with yourself, or it might mean feeling more hopeful or optimistic about the future. Regardless of which issue you bring to a session, counselling has a knock on effect on the rest of our lives.

Each client is different, with different issues, so each session has to be tailor made.

In the consultation we will discuss what is troubling you and what outcome you are aiming for. When you choose to continue I will build a session, or group of sessions, to best suit you.

I work in a person-centred way, which means that you as the client are the expert and will know what is best, the therapist is there to guide you through your feelings and find the answer that is best for you.

Along with this I also use some CBT, and visual therapies. Hypnotherapy is also an option.

CBT works on the here and now, and aims to challenge and change your unhelpful automatic thoughts and learn new, helpful more realistic views on the world around you.
