About Pippa Copleston Counselling & Psychotherapy

ABOUT ME
I am a qualified and registered counsellor and psychotherapist with almost 20 years of experience. I offer counselling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision in a comfortable, safe and confidential location in Uckfield. I firmly believe that the relationship between my client and me is key to the work, therefore your first session is at no charge and without obligation to continue. . I work weekdays and can arrange evening appointments. I also believe that counselling should be accessible to all, and so I allocate some concessionary spaces for low income/unwaged as well as for students on counselling courses.

WHY COUNSELLING?
We all have times in our lives when we need that extra bit of support. Counselling is a way of finding someone trained and neutral to talk things over with, and this can help us to find solutions or different, more useful ways of coping. Often, even if there is the support of friends or family, those close to us can takes sides, or have an agenda, even if they don’t mean to. As your counsellor, I offer a safe, neutral and confidential way for you to look at those issues that are troubling you with fresh eyes, without judgement or blame.

WANT TO FIND OUT MORE?
Your first session is free of charge, and although it is more of an information sharing time, gives you the chance to meet me in person and decide whether you think I might be the right person for you. I will ask some basic details in our first telephone conversation, and the first session gives me the chance to know more about you and what brings you to counselling at this time. This is also an opportunity for you to find out more about me and the counselling process.

MY APPROACH
Integrative means that I am trained in a number of approaches, some psychodynamic and some humanistic. Don’t worry too much about what this means, but you may want to Google some of the approaches that inform my practice which, amongst others. are:

Person Centred
Transactional Analysis,
Gestalt,
Attachment theory,
Object Relations theory,
Family constellations
Systemic theory
CBT

I also invite clients to use creative methods (i.e. sandtray, objects, pictures, art and mark making etc.) if appropriate. You may or may not want to try this, it’s your choice entirely.
I keep up to date with new theory and thinking, and attend regular trainings and workshops throughout the year so that my thinking does not become “fixed” and/or outdated.

ACCOUNTABILITY
I am a UKCP (UK Counsel for Psychotherapy) registered, a member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their codes and ethics, making my work accountable to a governing body. I am fully insured and have a current enhanced DBS check. In addition, I am BUPA registered.
