About SCM Counselling
I am a BACP Registered counsellor offering affordable counselling in English, French and Spanish. I believe that there is no single approach that can help all clients in all situations. In this way, I have trained within a range of modalities, and adapt my approach to suit my clients’ individual needs.
I have experience working with individuals from all walks of life struggling with a broad range of issues such as: depression, bereavement, anxiety,sexual abuse, domestic abuse, relationship issues, self-esteem/self-acceptance, life stages adjustment, integrating into a new country and culture, phobias & fears, anger, and disability.
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and I am a Certified Cyber Therapist. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).
I have also received specialist training in:
domestic abuse issues;
sexual abuse issues;
As a member of the BACP I follow its Ethical Framework, which includes a commitment to regular supervision of my work as a counsellor, and an ongoing personal commitment to professional development.
Since qualifying, I have worked within various therapy setting, including a general counselling agency, a Sexual Assault Referral Centre and a bereavement support organisation. I work with adults of all ages and background, and I offer both long and short-term therapy depending on my clients goals.
In addition to traditional face to face counselling, I offer Walk & Talk Therapy and Online Counselling.
Walk & Talk therapy can be a good alternative for people who find traditional counselling a bit overwhelming as walking side by side can be less intimidating and help release inhibition.
Walk & Talk is not a fitness session but it is often more dynamic than a traditional indoor session. You lead the pace, and walking side by side you’re looking ahead. If you have felt stuck in therapy in the past, being physically active releases some tension and stimulates new thought and ideas. It is a metaphor for moving forward.
