We seek counselling for many different reasons, our lives and experiences are unique to us and finding the right counsellor to explore our thoughts and feelings is a daunting experience so well done for taking the first step towards this and welcome to my page.
Even the strongest among us can feel lost, unsure, unhappy or confused at times, counsellors can help you understand and manage whatever life throws at you. I believe we should not simply survive this life but to live it to the best of our ability.
My aim is to help you find your inner strength to do this, no matter how small the step, I will take it with you.
I offer 1-1 Counselling sessions both face to face in a therapy room or via online video chat, with the hope that I can help you recognise and work towards resolving or coping with the issues you bring. This can be over short or long term periods. I strive to express impartial, non-judgemental thoughts, assisting and encouraging you to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and emotions, working respectfully with the aim of helping you to develop skills which allow you to control your life rather than allow life to control you.
My approach is client-led, this means that you are in control of how you want your sessions to be, I am a qualified integrative counsellor which involves using tools, techniques and coping strategies from approaches suitable to each individuals needs, these may include but are not solely focused on - CBT, Humanistic, puppet, arts & crafts, games and sand tray work. By working collaboratively, we can find solutions together.
I can offer you a safe, comfortable environment where you determine how your time will be spent, you can be who and how you wish to be without judgement. Within the safety of the therapy room clients can be as quiet/loud/silly/grumpy as they wish.
Many life experiences led me to train to be a counsellor, giving me the opportunity to support others through their own unique journey. I have experienced mental and physical abuse, health issues (including diagnosis, management and living with life limiting illnesses), divorce, loss & bereavement, LGBT family issues therefore I am able to walk alongside you with your own similar situations.
I am qualified at B.A.(hons) level in counselling and a registered member of the BACP, and gained experienced working within Butterwick Hospice Care and Sunderland Epilepsy Support Group, Making Connections Support Group, Bereaved Parents and Place2Be. All of which involved working with adults, young people and children, supporting them in 1-1 sessions as well as group meetings, before setting up private practice.
Sessions are hourly rates:
£45 (concessions can be given, discuss this when making initial contact)
Student counsellors who require personal therapy during training £20 (proof of studies needed)
Home visits are possible, discuss during initial contact regarding this (extra charges are incurred)
