Taking that first step to finding a counsellor may feel daunting, especially when life may already feel very challenging.
From listening to my clients I have come to understand how deciding to begin counselling can really feel quite scary. It is for this reason that I offer a 30 minute introductory session for new clients, free of charge, and with no obligation to book further sessions.
I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, which simply means that I work with a variety of techniques, depending on my client's needs, and these techniques are held within a structured framework. My focus is to build a strong relationship with my clients to support and contain them through the challenges of the counselling work they choose to do.
Here is a brief snapshot of some of the work I have done.
I have worked as a counsellor and supervisor for several years with clients who are bereaved. My clients have stretched across the age ranges and with all types of loss. I have also worked alongside clients struggling to cope with loved ones who were terminally ill.
I have a lot of experience working with survivors of abuse and domestic violence. This work includes working with feelings around power and control, the loss of childhood; strong feelings of guilt and shame, low self esteem and so much more.
I am an experienced Supervisor for a Dorset based charity, I work on a 1:2:1 and group basis. For counsellors either qualified or under training, I offer supervision.
If there is something that is troubling you, then it's worth talking about, I offer both short and long term therapy, this is your choice.
