About Joanne Groves Counselling Services

My name is Jo and I am a fully qualified Counsellor working with Adults and Young People in Exeter and Exmouth, Devon.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Post-Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and you will find me on the BACP register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

My training as an Integrative Counsellor means I am able to work in a variety of ways. This means I am really able to work with you and tailor our sessions together to work in a way that really suits you. You may just want to talk, and feel most comfortable with this, or you may want to work more creatively and find it easier to articulate yourself using art, or drawing or Sand-tray. My philosophy is rooted in Person Centred practice, but I work with T.A. Gestalt, Mindfulness or Psycho-Dynamic if I feel they are right for you.

My aim as your Counsellor is to work with you relationally. I believe it is your unique subjective experience that is central to our work together whatever approach I use.
I believe the Counselling process should work around valuing your individuality.

As a Humanistic Therapist I believe we all have the capacity to be the best we can be, and that ultimately we all want to move towards being happy and fulfilled.

Central to my philosophy is the importance of the relationship between the Client and the Counsellor. My aim is to provide you a safe, confidential space in which you can explore how you experience your world.

As a Counsellor I am trained to help you become more aware of how patterns, themes or experiences in your life may be affecting your current situation. My aim is to help you find a new path forward, encouraging you to consider new perspectives and find a way that works more positively for you.

Counselling can be very challenging, and at times we may work with more difficult or deep rooted issues. My approach is to be there for you, offering you support and guidance, and encouraging you to find ways to take care of yourself and promote your own well-being.

My goal as your Counsellor, ultimately, is to help you reach a place where you feel able to move forward in your life, without me, feeling you know yourself better, and are better for the changes you may have made.

I work with a whole spectrum of life issues, including, but not limited to;
-Stress
-Anxiety
-Bereavement

I offer the initial consultation at 50% my usual fees.

My fees are 35.00 for Adults (1 hour) / 30.00 for Children (45 minutes-1 hour)
