Jessica Bowers Counselling

My name is Jessica and I am qualified in counselling and psychotherapy. My private practice is based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, where I offer both long and short-term counselling and psychotherapy. I provide a private, confidential space, where you are free to talk openly. I will listen with empathy and without judgement which will allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I have had personal therapy; therefore, I understand how daunting it can be, especially in taking the first steps. I will support you through your journey with care and compassion. If I cannot offer you the kind of service you require, then I will endeavour to point you in the right direction.

I am a humanistic and integrative therapist, which, simply put, means I put the client and the therapeutic relationship at the core of my work. I work ethically and professionally. I follow the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) codes of practice.

I have a B.Sc(Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy (First Class). I trained at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham. I have worked for both a charity and a prison counselling service over the past few years. I have experience in working with clients both on a long-term and short-term basis. I have knowledge and experience in a broad range of issues. I have received further training in personality disorders, suicide and self-harm, the therapeutic relationship and child development theories. I am committed to life-long learning and development.
