Claire Reeves MBACP

I have always had a passion for helping others. I started my career as a primary school teacher in a school in Derbyshire but my interest remained with families that needed more than educational support. After seeing the benefits of counselling myself, I decided to follow my dream and re-trained as a counsellor/psychotherapist.

Alongside my private practice, I work at sarac, a charity in Burton-on-Trent, that supports clients that have been affected by sexual abuse, rape and/or sexual exploitation. I oversee the Adult Emotional Support Services and therefore I have a great deal of knowledge and expertise in this area. I also provide counselling to young people in a local secondary school.

How I work
I use an integrative approach so that I can tailor the support to suit your needs and where you are currently on your journey of change. My main training has been using psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. This means that I place a great deal of importance on building a trusting relationship, helping you to feel safe and secure enough to explore your difficulties but I am also skilled in making links to your past. Often current relationships and behaviours are a repeat of those from the past and are deep rooted in childhood experiences. Exploring these links can be useful in helping you to develop new, healthier ways of thinking and being.

Location
Operating in the Swadlincote, Burton-on-Trent and Ashby-de-la-Zouch areas of the East midlands, Claire Reeves Counselling and Psychotherapy is focused on supporting clients achieve their goals in a judgement free, supportive manner. My mission statement is to bring hope and wellness to all of my clients and ensure that each person who spends time in my sessions leaves a step closer to making the changes needed to improve their life.
