Hello my name is Bhavna, thank you for visiting this page.
When you choose to have counselling with me, we will begin by exploring what your needs and expectations are from counselling at our first meeting - this enables us both to be sure that we can work powerfully and fruitfully together. Counselling is not about giving advice, instead, I see it as YOUR time to explore what YOU want or need to, in order to live a full and joy-filled life. To this end, I will be led by you, but will respectfully and gently challenge you to be your greatest possible Self.
A Little About Me:
I have been counselling for over 18 years and have worked with a diverse range of clients from around the world, of all ages between 11 to 92, presenting with a host of issues from day to day emotional issues, relationship counselling, anxiety, depression and panic to extreme trauma and bereavement. I am particularly interested in offering safe and accepting counselling support to the LGBT community as there is very little support for this community in Cornwall. There is little I have not heard of or worked with, so please be assured that I will not be shocked by anything you say nor judge you in any way. If for any reason we cannot work together, I will be happy to help you find other suitable support.
I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor trained in a number of clinical approaches including Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Transactional Analysis in order to tailor my counselling practice to your specific needs. I also incorporate approaches from Eastern Philosophy and other dynamic methods to help you get on with your life as quickly as possible and to help you to 'Just Be Yourself'. I currently work with clients based locally in the South West, around the UK and internationally and have flexible appointments to suit all.
I am BACP Accredited and qualified to a high level with an MSc in Counselling Psychology and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I am also a qualified Adult Educator with over 20 years of teaching experience in colleges across London and the South-West including Truro. Additionally, I work with a number of national and international EAPs and am a Critical Incident Debriefer with experience of working with individual workplace and major incidents including supporting rescue personnel and survivors after the London Bombings, survivors of the Rwandan Genocide and UK based families affected by the 9/11 tragedy in New York as well as supporting organisations, staff and families coping with fatalities in the workplace. I have extensive experience in the private, corporate and voluntary sector.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and am bound by their stringent codes of ethics and practice. I am also covered by insurance to practice and subscribe to ongoing professional develpment to enhance my clinical practice.
Please do visit my website for further information and to explore useful articles I have written on dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, etc.
