About Sarah Hudson – Psychoherapy & Counselling

We are all different. Unique in the way we approach and experience life. The way that you approach and respond to therapy will be equally unique.

The skill of the therapist is in how they respond to you. How to best support you find resolutions to the issues that you are experiencing.

How do you choose a therapist? Well they do say that we make up our minds in a 10th of a second, by just seeing somebody’s face. We then move into the second impression phase. This is where we begin to explore some of the background of a person – so allow me to introduce myself.

I started my working career in the NHS as a registered nurse where I got to appreciate not just the physical but also the emotional and mental health issues of patients. The interest grew into a passion in understanding the human psyche and I have now been working as a therapist for the last 27 years.

I have learned the value of individual difference; of courage, trust, integrity and the ability for all of us to find our own path. I have learned that I don’t have all the answers, although I do have the skills to help you discover yours. I also know that I can sit with you and be with you in your felt sense of anxiety, fear, depression, anger, bereavement, chaos and addiction. I strongly believe that you can be empowered to find your own answers.

How do I do all of this? Well I trained as an Integrative Therapist which means that the approach combines different elements of specific therapies (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT; Psychodynamic Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy; Transactional Analysis and Trauma Informed Approaches). I am also a qualified mindfulness practitioner and can work with you from this perspective. This fits with my sense of finding the right approach that best suits your needs.

My passion is in the evolving research of neuro-psychotherapy or brain-based therapy. This approach is based in cutting edge brain science – how the brain works and the connection with the mind and body; our social interactions the environment and how we experience all of this – emotionally and behaviourally. Maybe that sounds a lot but basically it just means that it helps me to see the whole of you rather than just one part of you.

Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Trauma/PTSD/Childhood, Drug & Alcohol issues, Loss/Bereavement/Grief, Relationship issues, Self-esteem issues – together you and I can work towards discovering ways that help you arrive at where you want to be.

I understand that taking the step towards working with a therapist can be anxiety provoking. To help you with this, I offer 30mins free of charge for us to meet each other. I’m based in Falmouth and have easy access to two train stations and bus stops. The is also free parking and somewhere to keep your cycle safe.
