About West Berkshire Psychotherapy

Why Come to Psychotherapy?

You may be suffering with feelings of stress, anxiety, or depression; emotions which gush out disproportionately to what seems to have triggered them; struggling in relationships which cause you distress; or recent events may have brought to the surface painful feelings which seem hard to manage or which feel confusing. Whatever is troubling you, I offer a safe space to explore and work through it together. For me psychotherapy is not only for those with a diagnosable psychological issue, or for someone who can be labelled as having something ‘wrong’ with them, it can benefit anyone who wants to get more out of life.

I work in an integrative way and look to create insight into how we see the present through the lens of the past, and to make contact with perhaps painful, rejected parts of ourselves in a more compassionate way. I have a particular interest in working mindfully with the ‘felt sense’ of our pain in the body, to help us learn to be with it more peacefully and make sense of it in the context of the past.

Me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist, having completed my MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy as part of a 7 year training at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) where I remain a current graduate member. I have been working in private practise since 2014 and prior to this spent a year working as a voluntary therapist for Turning Point with adults with addiction problems. I have also spent over 7 years working for NHS Southern Health and Andover and District Mencap with adults with mental health problems and learning disabilities, and a year working with mental health patients at an acute inpatient unit for NHS Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust (AWP).

What I Offer

I offer 50 minute therapy sessions with a view to this continuing on a weekly basis as an ongoing process of exploration, discovery and personal development. I offer a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment for this exploration to take place. I charge £50/ session.
