I specialise in working with young people and adults and have worked in a variety of settings including a children's and family centre, an upper school, an unemployment charity and a further education college where I'm currently based.
I have experience of working effectively with a number of issues including anxiety, depression, historical trauma and abuse, relationship issues, bereavement, panic & stress, family problems, identity, trauma, loss of purpose among many other issues. What I notice most in clients is that a number of stressors build up and learnt ways of coping no longer work. Counselling can help you to gain a deeper understanding of your problems and possible causes and through exploring these problems, new ways of coping tend to emerge. These new ways of dealing with life, or 'being in the world' tend to be longer lasting as they are carefully considered and talked through in therapy and older, more outdated ways are coping can be adapted or let go off.
After our intial email or telephone or email conversation, our first session will be an assessment where we will work out together whether counselling will be useful for you and for you to have the epxerience of working with me. From here we will decide on the number of session to start with. I offer both short term and long term counselling.
I also offer supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors. Please contact me to find out more.
As well as counselling I also tutor on various counselling courses and run local CPD.
Prices are £40 an hour for adults and £35 for chilren and young people (age 11 and up).
