About Toni Clark Counselling Service

When you are considering counselling you often have many questions. I hope that the following will give you a sense of who I am and how I work.

My role as a counsellor is to be someone neutral, who will listen to you without preconceptions and will not be influenced by anything outside of what you bring to the sessions. You are able to choose what you reveal, and when, and can dictate the pace at which we go.

The kind of issues clients bring covers a wide range. Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues of any description are often reasons to come to counselling. You may feel sad, have feelings of low self esteem or lack of self confidence. Perhaps you are struggling with feelings of anger, shame, or loneliness.  You may have experienced loss; perhaps for a person, job, place or role in life. Counselling offers a way understand and come to terms with these bereavements. You may simply feel overwhelmed by your emotions and the pressures of life. Alternatively you may find it difficult to experience or express any feelings at all.

Counselling can also help you explore wider issues, such as finding your place in the world, deciding which path to take in life and give you support while you go through a time of difficult change. It can be used to help you understand and accept questions that may have arisen in your life around areas of sexuality, your cultural experience, or spirituality.

I will listen to you without judgement and with respect for your feelings and your experiences.

I am an Professionally Qualified  BACP Registered Counsellor in Gravesend town centre.

My life experience and professional career gives me a collected skills set to offer to you as a professional counsellor.

As your counsellor you will find me to be an open, thoughtful, and reflective person who strives to work with compassion, empathy and humour. My training is in Humanistic Person Centred Approach to counselling and I work in a Relational Way. This means that I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is the key to healing and that everyone is unique, so I work in a way that suits you and will adapt to your needs

I have a wide experience working with people of varied sexualities, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. I have particular experience and understanding of living with the effects of emotional and mental problems; anxiety/depression/bereavements/identity and the stresses that effect our physical being.

I integrate body based therapies if needed to help with some of the physical body symptoms that often accompanies mental and emotional difficulties.

Deep relaxation/Mindfulness/Education (learning what is happening to us and why)/Body balancing (Our body often speaks our mind, learning to tune into it, what it is telling us and learning how to give it what it needs).

Ready to take the next step? What to expect.

The first session is an ‘no-obligation’ consultation session with no expectation to continue.  This session and is therefore somewhat different to a usual counselling session. It is an opportunity for you to find out if counselling with me is right for you. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you want to achieve and any questions or concerns you may have. Then we can take it from there.
