A little about me may help to decide if you could work with me.
Im a Mum, daughter, Single parent, I work as a Counsellor (a job I love) but also in education and clerical office work.
My work with clients is where I feel most rewarded, I am passionate about helping my clients to work through their anxieties or troubles. I believe whole heartedly in the process of counselling and was drawn towards it several years ago after a life changing event. I have always been interested in people and what makes them do the things they do or feel the way they do. So when the opportunity arose to train professionally as a counsellor I took it and never looked back. Not only did I have the chance to look at myself  as part of the training, but also the learn the theory behind the subject.
I work with what is known as a person centred model, but over the years I have integrated other methods and learning, this means I can meet my clients emotionally where they are. I will not direct a client, or give advice, however together we can work through the issues looking at underlying behaviors and feelings, helping to bring into focus the real issues.
Before I set up in private practice I worked for an agency in Plymouth working with clients who had suffered or who where suffering domestic abuse, clients suffering from fatigue, clients who felt a loss if identity while caring for other members of the family, all of this can lead to anxiety, depression, and self esteem issues to name just a few of the emotional  symptoms.
I work to the BACP ethical code (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy) and am a Registered member.
