George Fortune Counselling BSc (Hons) MBACP
Counsellor in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset
My name is George Fortune and I run George Fortune Counselling, a private counselling practice based in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. I am an experienced and fully qualified counsellor, offering face-to-face counselling from my counselling cabin in Worle, as well as online and telephone counselling.
I have been providing counselling since 2014 and have over a decade of experience supporting adults and young people with a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns.
Alongside my private practice work, I have spent many years in the mental health sector providing wellbeing support within the North Somerset community. The combination of these roles has deepened my understanding of mental health, recovery, and the wider support networks available locally. This helps me offer a grounded, knowledgeable and compassionate counselling experience for the people I work with.
I have supported clients with a wide range of concerns, including:
• Anxiety and depression.
• Anger and emotional regulation.
• Bereavement and loss.
• Work-related stress and job concerns.
• Isolation and loneliness.
• Low confidence and self-esteem.
• A lost sense of purpose or direction.
• Relationship and connection difficulties.
• Understanding and expressing emotions.
• Stress related to exams, home life, work or change.
My counselling cabin
I work from a purpose-built counselling cabin at my home address in Worle, within easy travelling distance of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead and surrounding areas in North Somerset. The cabin offers a peaceful and confidential space where clients often describe feeling relaxed and able to talk openly. It is separate from the usual office environment and provides a calm place for reflection and exploration.
My counselling approach
I offer an integrative humanistic counselling approach that gives you time and space to speak freely about whatever is on your mind. Together we explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that encourages greater self-awareness and clarity.
Humanistic counselling is based on the belief that people have the capacity for self-awareness, growth and change when they are met with the right conditions. My role is to walk alongside you, offering reflection, curiosity and presence without judgement or pressure. I draw on models such as person-centred therapy, Gestalt counselling and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, shaping our work around what feels most helpful for you.
Therapy with me can involve depth, warmth and sometimes humour. There are sessions where people cry, sessions where people laugh and often both. The aim is to create a space that feels genuine, safe and human.
Integrative counselling
When needed, I also integrate ideas from other therapeutic approaches. This can include using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques or other models that support the goals you are working on. Every client brings something unique, which is why I work in a flexible and relational way rather than following a fixed method.
Professional membership
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society. I follow their ethical frameworks to ensure safe, responsible and professional practice.
Getting started
The first step is to arrange an initial consultation. This is a paid one-hour session charged at £40. The consultation gives us time to talk about what brings you to counselling, to explore any questions you may have and to help you make an informed decision about starting therapy. This can take place in person, over the phone or online.
If you prefer to call, you are welcome to ring me on 07462 110948. If I am in session, please leave a voicemail with your name, contact number and a short message.
As I am often in hourly sessions, email is usually the quickest way for me to respond during short gaps in the day. If you send a message through the contact form, I will aim to reply during a break or the following morning.
