About TalkingCounts Counselling and Psychotherapy

My name is Lisa Bunyan. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in Woking, Surrey and offer counselling to both men and women, 16 years and over on a one-to-one basis or to couples.

Life inevitably brings with it difficulties that can get in the way of your happiness and well-being. They say a problem shared is a problem halved and there is proof that talking can really help you in times of trouble. Talking through worries and concerns with friends and family can often help but there are times when it is more helpful to talk in confidence to an impartial, non-judgmental professional who can offer fresh perspectives, insights and coping strategies and who is not involved in your personal and everyday life, with the assurance of complete confidentiality.

I value each of my clients as individuals whose experiences are significant and unique. I am fortunate to be able to draw from my broad training and experience to tailor my approach to compliment your personality and meet your individual needs and requirements. My experience has involved working with clients from many different backgrounds and circumstances, and experiencing a diverse range of emotional difficulties which result in feelings of: unhappiness, depression, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, helplessness, out of control, isolation, inadequacy, chaos, confusion, to name a few.
Often you might try to deal with these difficult feelings yourself by possibly putting them out of your mind, bottling them up and keeping ‘a stiff upper lip’ while the underlying problems remain unresolved and you find yourself going round in circles. It is good to talk; talking things through can really help.

Counselling is a collaborative process that involves open conversation between the two of us and I believe its success is based on the development of a mutually trusting relationship. I will not provide answers but I will support and encourage you to find your own answers, because ultimately you know what is best for you, as we talk openly and freely about your troubles and concerns, and explore aspects of yourself and your life, both past and present. This will provide you with a better understanding of how they impact your life and what possibilities and changes are open to you by increasing your self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence. As a consequence, this should leave you feeling empowered and place you in a better position to cope more effectively with life’s challenges and improve your sense of well-being and help you develop a more positive outlook to life.

These Talking therapies can take time and patience and due to our individual uniqueness we require different amounts of time to work through issues and difficulties. Consequently, some people might see me for a few weeks, whilst others may others may find a longer period more helpful.

Please contact me for an informal chat and to make an initial exploratory appointment on 07702 026 943.
