About Steve Harland Counselling

As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working in Bristol my aim is to offer a secure, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to explore the issues that may be troubling you.

At times feelings and thoughts can overwhelm us and feel like a struggle that is hard to overcome. Past experiences can replay in the present and cause problems that we find difficult to explain. Relationships, economic pressures, health issues, losses, general life events and other factors all contribute to a sense of unease.

I believe that offered the right conditions, time, warmth and understanding we can equip ourselves with the tools we need to navigate through the problems that may be affecting our daily lives and by integrating a variety of therapeutic approaches to best suit your individual needs, I hope to create those conditions to enable you to go forward and move through to a more manageable and fulfilling place.

As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy I agree to a code of ethics for good practice and I hold a Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am trained as a generic counsellor, meaning that I am able to work with most issues that someone might bring to therapy and I currently offer private practice counselling in Bristol. I have experience of working with depression, relationship issues, anxiety, anger management, loss, bereavement, alcohol dependency, drug dependency, general addictions, generalised anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, compulsions, phobias, identity crisis, death anxiety, abuse, confidence issues, low self-esteem, stress, weight issues, life stage crisis and more.

I come from a background in problematic substance use therapy and I have worked as a counsellor for Swindon & Wiltshire Alcohol & Drug Service and recently for Turning Point, one of the biggest providers of substance misuse services in the UK today. Prior to this I began my career as help liner for the charity No Panic who specialise in helping those coping with generalised anxiety disorders including panic attacks, phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I also have significant experience of working in Health & Social Care.

My fees are £50 per fifty minute session for individuals, £65 for couples.
